Currently, Category C prices are usually based on a single product, often because only one brand is available. However, for some items there are now multiple suppliers. These products will begin moving into Category H, where prices are calculated using information provided by suppliers under the Health Service Products (Provision and Disclosure of Information) Regulations 2018.
Products with more than one supplier will be moved gradually from Category C to Category H as part of a phased transition.
Community Pharmacy England (CPE) has objected to introducing these changes at this time due to ongoing supply chain instability and the risk of further disruption.
